Having traveled extensively and captured the essence of diverse destinations worldwide, our journey through the Canadian Maritimes stands out as an experience close to our hearts. In the vast canvas of Canada’s landscapes, the Maritimes emerge as a vibrant and singular entity, distinctively embodying a way of life and scenery that’s truly exceptional. Comprising New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia, we embarked on an enriching 8-day road trip, exploring the unique charm of each province. We hope this brief overview ignites your inspiration to embark on your own adventure in this extraordinary region.

Nova Scotia – Cape Breton

Upon arriving at Halifax airport, we wasted no time, immediately securing an SUV to embark on our captivating photographic journey through the Canadian Maritimes. Our inaugural destination was the enchanting Cape Breton, where we chose to reside in Pleasant Bay, nestled in the island’s serene northern reaches. This strategic location afforded us easy access to the rugged highlands, replete with dramatic cliffs that begged to be captured through our lenses. Our adventure truly began as we ventured onto the renowned Cabot Trail, a 298-kilometer masterpiece of a highway, celebrated as one of Canada’s most awe-inspiring scenic routes, and often acclaimed as one of the world’s finest road trips, ensuring that every bend and vista was ripe for extraordinary photographic moments.

Prince Edward Island

After leaving Cape Breton, our journey led us to the picturesque Prince Edward Island, a land adorned with captivating colors, quaint towns, and surreal landscapes. We made Canvendish, nestled in the island’s northern region, our home for two nights. Here, amidst endless stretches of pristine sand dunes, striking red sandstone cliffs, and enchanting villages, the abundance of photographic marvels was simply irresistible. The island’s manageable size allowed us to explore the western-central areas on one day and savor the eastern section on the next, ensuring an extraordinary visual journey throughout our stay.

New Brunswick – Bay Of Fundy

As we journeyed through the enchanting landscapes between PEI and New Brunswick, our destination was the renowned Bay of Fundy, a place of captivating contrasts with its rugged cliffs, thunderous waves, and remarkable ecological treasures. Nestled between New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, the Bay of Fundy is a mesmerizing body of water where tides ebb and flow dramatically, with water levels fluctuating by up to 40 feet in just 12 hours. Witnessing this natural spectacle was nothing short of awe-inspiring, and capturing it through our lenses was a truly magical experience.

Nova Scotia – Peggy’s Cove & Lunenberg

Nova Scotia is a culinary haven, celebrated for its delectable seafood, including lobster and scallops. However, it’s not just the food that captivates in this Maritime gem; it’s a photographer’s paradise waiting to be discovered. Our journey took us to the iconic Peggy’s Cove and the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lunenburg. Peggy’s Cove, with its picturesque charm, perfectly encapsulates the allure of Nova Scotia, making it an essential stop for any photography enthusiast exploring the Maritimes. Meanwhile, Old Town Lunenburg stands as a remarkable testament to British colonial history in North America, where tall ships still grace the harbors, and 18th-century historic homes, resplendent in vibrant colors, transport you back in time as if strolling through a living museum.

For this Maritime series, I chose the Hahnemühle Bamboo fineart paper. This paper is a classic in the world of fine art printing, distinguished by its lusciously warm tone and eco-conscious composition. Crafted from 90% bamboo, this paper offers not only environmental sustainability but also an exquisite finish for your photographic prints, making it a choice that seamlessly marries beauty and eco-friendliness. It’s fast becoming one of my favorite media’s to print on.
